USTAD SABIR KHAN

In 1984 he organized a seven day long Festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance. In which all the top ranking musician had taken part in memory of Late Ustad Karamatullah Khan and was highly praised and publicized by the press and Media.
In 1994 he organized a six day long festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance, with all the top ranking artistes, in which an award in the name of Ustad Karamatullah Khan was given to Pdt A.T. Kanan, the renowned vocalist and in 1995 to Late Pdt. Kishan Maharaj, the reputed Tabla Player. 2009 is the celebration of the silver jubilee of Ustad Karamatullah Khan Music Circle, which is one the biggest achievement as a tribute to the guru and father Ustad Karamatullah Khansaheb.
Sabir Khan has started the festival under the name of his father Late Ustad Karamatullah Khan in the year 1978. He has been able to produce 27 editions of such an elegant festival for the last 35years with the repute and stature intact is no less than an achievement in itself.
Sabir khan travelled extensively all over the world many a times but the work mentioning is he’s being invited as a cultural ambassador for the “Festival of India” in USA, Germany, France, Sweden, with all top ranking musicians today.
Through lecture demonstrations and workshop Sabir Khan has been able to make the western world accept the intricacies and purity of his Gharana.
Khansaheb has written a book on the system of playing Tabla, This book is under publication and will be released soon in the market.
Khansaheb has established a unique academy under the name of his father Ustad Karamatullah Khansaheb. It is Unique as it is the very first Only Tabla Academy in India.
One of the fateful achievements of Khansaheb is that he is the present Ustad and the 33rd generation of the most prominent and acknowledged school of Tabla “The Farukkabad Gharana”, there is no doubt in saying that more than 90% of Tabla Player worldwide directly or indirectly is a part of this lineage.
Khansaheb has also produced a 7 episode long serial based on Classical Music in which Classical Legend form both south and north participated. This Weekly episodic television serial was the highest T.R.P serial of that time in Doordarshan.
Another colossuses achievement of Ustad ji is that he is part of a Gharana where 3 consecutive generations have been awarded Sangeet Natak Akademy Award for their contribution in the field of Tabla, Starting from his grandfather Ustad Masit Khan, his father Ustad Karamatullah Khan and himself.
